This is a repair I did on one of my wings that shows how it’s constructed, it worked out ok but I started from a position far more intact than yours.

Bruce is so right. My fabrication is only just at the level I’m happy with after 2 years working on my car (and I’d done a fair amount before) and I’m still aware I’ve at least another 70% of learning to go.

My welding is still only at about 15% skill level. I can’t blame the tools though as I bought a 215 amp Portamig years ago and it’s just great. [URL]https://www.weldequip.com/portamig-mig-welders.htm[\URL] You don’t need that much power for car body work, but it’s useful when making trolleys and lumpy tools.

Also you’ll need proper gas if you want to make a proper go of it. I’ve got a cheap contract with a local company in Wrexham for a CO2 argon mix. BOC etc is legalised theft.

Good thing about your wing is you’ve got nothing to lose by trying.
