Swindon Engines: I found this video really interesting!

Post by 911hillclimber »

Well worth looking at, esp the last minutes.

No bull, no hysterical expression, just facts.

Yes, that is what I thought too.
No details on battery supply though.

20k for an electronic bike isn't the future!

Of course cheaper EV bikes are available but 'plug + play' most certainly is the future. Like it or not, electric engined Classics are already here. The next step of supplying components for DIY EV shed-builders is the natural progression. Thats me, probably you too. Singer and other premium levels of bespoke purchasing are in demand and, as always, those with the means to drop their £20k on EV bike design and technology will lower future costs for the rest of us tinkering in our lockups and lean-tos. Swindon have the customers now. I'm in.

Come on.
The bike is hardly the commuter converted push bike.
It is very close to a motorcycle, he says it is targeted at off-road.

60 mph and it's limited, twin front brakes etc and a v nice frame, fan cooled battery etc, fabulous.

some people pay 1/2 million for an old road going Porsche, how mad is that?

The small, medium, large power plants to go onto classic gearboxes (a la Moggie) is very viable and I can see that conversion appealing soon. Here it has a transmission added.

Not sure your historic vehicle tax status will apply with an EV conversion, but who cares.

I posted it as interesting content, a long standing UK engine specialist with outstanding credibility do something forward at a very professional level.

Got to be celebrated!

throttle contolled bike not legal on the road unless registered as a motorbike though .. and I'm sure most mountian bike trail centres wouldnt be happy with that on its trails either .... also be difficult to argue the legality of riding it on bridleways too . Great piece of kit but cant see where youd use it .. 60mph with a cycle helemet & shorts is going to be interesting

Maybe the market for the bike is not in the UK?

USA I image is the place that would allow such a machine.

Agreed.

Old EV E-type post below but again, very professional approach. Same/similar unit in an old Merc, Zephyr, BMW, name-your-fave-straight-six-in-here, would be excellent....

And then there's the epic ICON Mercury. Worth a youtube search.
