WH Smith have just announced they're shutting around 60 per cent of their high street shops, and we're all on lockdown anyway.
Just a reminder – a plea, maybe – don't forget you can subscribe to your favourite magazines. You may not be able to drive your car but you can still turn to magazines for some inspiration.
It's a time when sales are inevitably taking a hit right across the publishing board, and things aren't going to get any easier for some while. Advertisers are feeling the pinch and need to promote
their services/products, too. Not everyone has a meaningful on-line presence...
Paper sub or digital, help the specialist publishing industry survive. Yes, I am biased but after 43 years in the industry, I really don't want to see the end of independent publishing.

Re: Subscribe...please
Ditto for the postage to Ireland. It really kills it , only the largest Easons ( our version of WH Smith ) now stock it for some reason so hard to get as needs a trip into Cork City.
Any offers for online only, it would make better sense for us overseas readers. As it is now I regularly miss issues.

Re: Subscribe...please
You can buy a digital sub. Apparently the problem now is that all publishers are being screwed by Royal Mail who say they have to increase prices because of reduced air freight capacity... Any excuse.
Please note I am just a freelancer who does the editing bit – any decisions about subs, offers, etc have nowt to do with me. That's all down to the publishers.

Thank you - it's a scary time in publishing, as I know it is in lots of other areas. I might have look up recipes for roast cat before too long...gridgway wrote:Subscribed!

Yes, really tricky. Hope you don't have to resort to cats though!KS wrote:Thank you - it's a scary time in publishing, as I know it is in lots of other areas. I might have look up recipes for roast cat before too long...gridgway wrote:Subscribed!
Re: Subscribe...please
Just ordered an annual subscription - got on a bit of a roll and did 911 & Porsche World and Classic and Sportscar while I was at it - if we're going to be locked up for the next six months I'd better have plenty to read !
