930 question

Post by Nerodino »

Hi, Is there anyone on here with a 930 that hasn't got a vent pipe outlet on their turbo catch tank?
I have a Fabspeed system on mine which does away with the open vent line back to the air box
I spoke with Fabspeed after my newly rebuilt turbo was wrecked due to lack of oil on initial start up of the fully rebuilt engine plus rebuilt turbo ( by Turbodynamics) and they said it does not require a vent there as the crankcase is already vented hence they did not add one to their tank.
The original catch tank was much larger in capacity and employed a vent .......I believe other aftermarket exhaust systems employ the Fabspeed way of thinking too?
The turbo shot oil up the inlet side to the intercooler and straight into the engine.
Anyone any ideas or thoughts as to what may have occurred as I don't want a repeat of this!
Regards
Graham
