Podcast recommendations

Post by bjmullan »

Just read the excellent thread on the "tie-can" and James's (hot66) post got me thinking about what podcasts people listen to, whether they are car related or not. Hopefully James will pop along and tell us about the "smoking tyres" podcast and others will join in.

I currently only have two; Kermode/Mayo's film review (Radio 5 and well known) and for those from Northern Ireland "The Blame Game" a fab comedy panel show but really only for NI folk. Both of these are actually radio programmes that I pick up as podcasts.

Love a good podcast ... listen to about 1hour everyday on the dog walk Image ... and additionally on long car journeys when the wife doesn’t approve of my music taste Image

Now not everyone will like these , but the one I’ve ended up listening too regularly are : ( note links might be to individual episodes because I can’t work out how to link to main page )

Obvious one : Chris Harris and the ‘collecting cars’ podcast . Everyone is great

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t ... 1462772852

Matt Farahs ‘smoking tire’ ... 2 shows per week ( skip the first 3 mins of adverts) ... just an enjoyable chat on cars with some great guests.

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t ... 0459175332

Love him or hate him .. Sam from seen thru glass has a good podcast ‘ behind the glass’

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/b ... 0465168859

I’ve not listened to this yet ... but it’s meant to be good if your interested in America Street racing and the story of how one man used it to bring gangs together and reduce crime

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/l ... 1470903474

Not car related but well worth a listen . Great story telling from the economist

The secret history of the future

My wife and friends keep telling me the ‘crypto queen’ is an amazing true story

If you like football and funny stories I recommend the 'That Peter Crouch' podcast. I'm going though the episodes at the moment and have enjoyed a good amount of belly laughs whilst driving.

It is very good.

I listen to a fair few - mainly in the gym.

Athletico Mince - Bob Mortimer and Andy Watson. I regularly laugh out loud to this. Loosely football related but less and less so these days. You need to listen to a few and give it a chance and get to know the characters.

Answer Me This - Helen and Olly answer listeners obscure questions

Adam Buxton - he's been quiet this year but regular interviews with interesting subjects

The Bugle - satirical, political humour from Andy Zaltzman

The News Quiz, Now Show, Deadringers - Radio 4 Friday comedy basically depending on what show is in season

TalkSport - Clips of the Week

You creepy little clown.

I can’t watch any Spurs matches or interviews anymore. What’s a matter, you seem upset, you hurting or something?

I listened this afternoon and I can’t remember ever laughing so hard. Roy Hodgson is utterly hilarious, ‘my tits are starting to itch which is a sign I am about to lash out’, and Barry C Homeowner.

Thanks, am a convert

Get better with more listens and familiarity with the characters - I get strange looks in the gym laughing out loud to it

Neil Hunt vs Steve McLaren and his pet snake Casper is a classic.... and Roy Hodgson with his addiction to Warhammer.....or should i say Vorhammer.....and the Sean Dyche rap, that's the Burnley way.........As said earlier by others, rewards regular listening.

And the Missing Crypto Queen is extremely interesting if a little repetitive.....
