Turbo tie rod upgrade

Post by ianmorrow »

As there was a little play in the standard tie rods my local specialist replaced them with the turbo upgrade . This is standard enough as I understand. The problem is that the tyre is now rubbing on the inner wing on full lock enough on the drivers side to rub through to the metal. Less on the passenger side.Full lock is not unusual especially when preparing to reverse.I am being told by the installer that this is a normal outcome and the installation of a spacer would be required to remedy. Could this be correct?
Any help much appreciated.

Generally those kits come with a spacer that limits the travel of the rack. Sounds like it wasn’t fitted.

As Jon says, there should be two spacers in with the kit to limit travel, as seen here.
