Great story Graham.
I also recognised 2 BRX. Autofarm had just finished a major
restoration/rebuild of it when I started working there around 1986.
Please keep up the story.
Now Porsche less and sad.

The final chapter is all done and posted onto the original post in this little thread.

It has been a joy to sit down and recount these 31 nearly years with this car and to rummage through the dusty albums with so many pictures, many with my daughter from 3 years to now her 34 years!
She and her petrol head husband enjoyed looking through them on Xmas day too. I trust they will look after it when I'm gone!

I hope this has interested a few on DDK.
Graham.

What a car this is!

Stories that explain what almost any car has meant to its owner and family over the years are far more interesting than the cars themselves. This one is fascinating.

Not much else to say.
Bit like most things, a lot of activity to start with, did a lot of things back then, enjoyed the freedom of this car and the new adventures it afforded us as a family.
Great memories.
Then things change, the Subaru came along and went and now languishes in a garage in Kinver.

The Lola was another thing all together, and the engine chosen was a good if difficult choice but one that came good.
The Class has moved on and the Lola is again too slow.

This 911 has simple duties now, a nice classic car that surprises me at times.

A few months ago filling up with Shell locally an old lady came up to me from the pump next to me.
Did she ever wax lyrical about the car.
She thought it the most beautiful car she had seen, the colour she described as enchanting and so lovely in the sun.
When I recovered, I told her it had done about 180,000 miles and she was gob smacked.
She was so sincere and brightened her day for sure!
And mine.

I am lucky to own it. :)

Even a better story !!

I don't use my car enough, just had a Classics Retrofit CD unit fitted by Two Plus Two, and I should be fine now for the next 40 years !!

I'll bet the Lola was a blast to drive !!

Just noticed I wrote in the past tense!
Still have it and will continue with the car until it all gets too much, esp lugging around the bloody trailer.

At 530Kg it is super nimble and 247 bhp gives a spritely 466 bhp/tonne. Scares the hell out of me.

Spring will soon be here!

No chance!
It was a simple exercise to document the car's history with the family.
I was invited to submit a very brief description of the modified car by PCGB for publication in Porsche Post to be published soon.
Then John talked of his 30 years with his very special 911.

I thought it would be good to do it while I still have most of my marbles and that it might be of interest to like minded people on here at the same time, but no more than that.

I think there are far far better stories to be told than this little tale!

However, thank you for considering it interesting. :)

Thanks Graham for taking the time to tell this story. I'm only five years into my Porsche journey (82 SC and now also an 87 924S project), but had a 25 year run with Alfa GTV's. I've met so many great folks via the Alfa and Porsche communities so I love reading your experiences and observations. Excellent job, appreciate your sharing all this. Maybe provide us with a link to the Lola thread you mentioned?

Cheers and Happy New Year, John.
