OT. BMW x3 wise words sought.

Post by Winston Teague »

Hi, my search for a manual A6 or A4 Allroad has, so far failed to find one that isn't overpriced or a very long way away, or both. So casting the net wider I find myself looking at X3 BMWs. I seem to be able to get a sub 100k mile car with a manual box and fsh for circa £3-3.5k. Quite appealing. Any wisdom out there I should know? W

My Uncle had one and last year the crankshaft broke in two. When making investigations he found out his wasn't the first that this happened to. Only 80k on the clock.

Think you're going to have to increase your budget by at least £1.5k to get anything somewhere near 100k in an Audi.

What about a a Volvo XC70, might offer some options within budget and mileage? You're probably going to have to extend your viewing range. They're a bit of an armchair but the D5 engine is a great engine.

I bought an 06 plate x3 for my wife. Worst car I have ever bought. 2l diesel is under powered, ride is poor. Got through turbo, dual-mass flywheel, front callipers, rear diff problems, porous alloys. Loathed it. Perhaps I just bought a bad example........
