Time for a new exhaust

Looking at replacing my exhaust this month. My 914 is the 1.7 engine and I want something fairly stock as my car is a daily driver for much of the year...

What do you guys run? Where did you buy and, if you don't mind, what did you pay

I had a 1973 2.0l which I bought with rusted heat exchangers & a rusty Birsch(?) exhaust. Slightly different I know.
I purchased a pair of 2nd hand stainless steel heat exchangers from the US which landed in the UK, VAT paid, for about £500.00. I purchased a Danske exhaust through SCS Porsche, near Honiton, who fitted the heat exchangers & the silencer. From memory, the Danske exhaust was roughly £400.00. This was in 2015. I have a photo of the set up if you're interested.

The car went well with this set up & was not too noisy, just enough to let you know it was a bit sporty. The engine set up was bog standard with the original fuel injection.

Sadly, I no longer have the car.

I have a NOS standard exhaust I picked up from a VW show some time back, I'm not sure if anybody makes a standard original style 1.7 exhaust now. I did run a Bursch for a few years but I found it a bit noisy to be honest. I think when this exhaust needs replacing I will get a stainless one made for it. There was a standard one on ebay a while back but a lot of money.

Steve I just like to point out the 1.7 exhaust that you said they seem to be a 2.0 one is incorrect to say that as the 1.7 ones are totally different as they are flat retangular while the 2.0 which by the way is very similar in appearance to the 911 exhaust but with four inlets is a susage shape and curved.
The 70-72 model year 1.7 used an exhaust with a long tail pipe that exit from around the centre of the rear section.
For the 73 model year when the rear valance was changed to the slim one with the notch in it the tail pipe was moved to exit on the left side but the main rectangular body of the silencer is very similar to the early one. This exhaust was also used on the 74 1.8.
To make the replacement 73 model year 1.7 exhaust fit the 70-72 model year cars with the valence with a hole in it, Porsche made two different tail pipes available to screw on the side as the early 1.7 type was discontinued by Porsche back in the 1970s.
Dansk still make the 73-74 1.7/1.8 exhaust and it comes with the tail pipe for the valence with the notch.
If you have the early 1.7 valence with a hole in then a tail pipe will need to be order from Autoatlanta who have stock part No. G000071347 to fit this valance.
I have the Dansk 1.7 exhaust fitted to my daily use 914 and they out last the so call sports exhaust made by Bursch by many years!

I have a dansk on my 1.7 and it fitted easily and works well.

Dropped the 914 to him so that he can fit a lovely stainless exhaust. Really looking forward to seeing this and hearing it of course!!
