NC500 - Spetember 2018

Post by Tp81 »

This year’s annual road trip took in the NC500 again, slightly different route and chose to go up the East Coast and come down the West. Have to say I think I preferred the more scenic roads on the last day, as against the drudgery of the A9. Probably some of the worst weather I have ever driven in and the added bonus of torrential rain is a huge amount of loose debris on the roads - gravel rash / stone chips galore. I try to not look too closely.
Tremendous few days with the usual dip in some cold water.

I'm sure you could take pictures of a visit to the local council 'dump' & make it look like an epic not-to-be-missed trip ...

Wonderful evocative pictures as always - thanks for posting.

Great pictures Tom.

I was just explaining to Feroz on another thread about the Scottish weather. He’s off to the Alps instead.

i love the west coast roads 8)

Still one of my most memorable drives was in my old 993 Cabrio, roof down blasting up and beyone applecross with a few other ddk'ers. Having done that route a few times in different cars ..... a soft top 911 just seemed to make it that bit more of an event.

I'll run the 964 up there again at some point. Can't help think a nice early 986 boxster would be perfect car for those roads & that scenery

Similar topic on Boxster forum on PCGB.
Recent trip in a Boxster, driver said you need a top down car to allow the scenery to really make a presence in the trip.
Love to do it in mine, but wife not keen.

His pictures are always irritatingly good! :)

I particularly like the rear view of 993 with 991 in front. Cracking photo!

Superb pictures.

Interesting re the comments about this type of drive in a convertible (although not in that weather!) I drove the Ring of Kerry recently in a coupe and decided that next time it would need to be roof down in the Boxster.
