Martin's resto mash up

Post by maxakarudy »

This thread is of various old school panelbeating projects that I've done over the last couple of years, it charts the learning curve from straightening out damaged panels to simple panel making and finally complete panels
I'm a signmaker by profession mostly self taught, I started off in the motor trade as a sprayer at bus repair garage where I was an apprentice.
If you are interested in this black art, my references

http://www.metalshapingzone.com, this chap is a coachbuilder who did his dvd on basic metalshaping, his DVD is a must for anybody interested in restoration techniques, he also has vids on youtube https://youtu.be/IGElSHzm0q8

This was a good place to start on a damaged MGB wing that got kicked about, the blue dye it engineers blue that helps highlight the lows in the panel

MGB wings, now, there's some memories!
Yes, please show more Martin.
Did you get the whole set of dolly hammers etc or simply have one or two favourite hammers.
I have no special hammers, just a small hammer I made as a 16 year old apprentice, a lump hammer, rubber heavy head hammer and that's it. Mind you, might explain some of my results. :)

Hi Graham,

Yes I have few hammers, wooden & plastic too I buy the old ones as they are far better quality than modern ones.

Mgb panels, I heard ya....
These are cheap as chips, but making them is more interesting :bounce:

Good job!
I did 2 Bs, a roaster and my GT, loved my GT.
That was 30+ years ago.
Inner arches were demanding.
