Without seeing the wording of the SOR agreement, doesn’t the car still belong to you until receipt of payment in full?

If so, are you not within your rights to ask for your car back? Or am I just talking sh1t?

You can claim this cost back.

All the more reason for the dealer to pay up now.

Hope so.

The dealer in question should be highly ashamed of themselves....!

Glad to hear the payment has started. Hope the rest of it turns up tomorrow.

Embarrassing for them it’s taken a thread with a threat of legal action to prompt it.

Businesses that play people like this should not be allowed to continue. My somewhat old school view on financial transactions are based on straight honesty from both sides. Shame this is not always the case.

Unhelpful.

Whilst the dealer may be a crook there’s every chance theyre a decent person who is struggling and may be facing a very tough time personally if their business is close to failure. I’m sure there are self employed people on here who have been on the brink who will agree it’s a horrible place to be and sometimes you just don’t have the ability to do exactly the right thing by everyone, even when you desperately want to.

Don’t call anyone a crook until you know everything about who they are and what they’re going through. Odds are they’re not a crook. And many of us are only a few bits of bad luck away from tough times.

Also, like Eminem said, calling someone a crook rarely encourages them to do the right thing.

That's a very charitable take on the situation.

Seems like this fiasco is starting to get resolved because of the exposure here on DDk (and other Porsche forums ?)

Why do you think there's every chance the dealer is actually a decent person ?

Whilst their business situation maybe perilous, and that is understandably difficult for them, shafting customers who are not responsible for this situation isn’t acceptable .

The signs aren't good, for sure, but do you not think there's any chance at all?

I have a friend whose business went under a few years back. He could have gone bankrupt and walked away, but he sold his house so he could pay his suppliers as much as he possibly could. When he got back on his feet he paid them the rest of what he owed. About 5 years later. Decent people get into trouble too.

Decent people do their best to honour their contracts rather than use other people’s money to find their business or lifestyle.

Your friend sounds like a decent person but he isn’t the subject of this post.

Not the same at all Sam.....

....not being able to pay someone because you haven't been paid or have lost money is one thing but using other people's money to support your own problems is something totally different.....

....I've heard it's called theft :?

Some very charitable comments, not sure whether appropriate for someone who has received money they've agreed belongs to someone else, kept it, spent it, refused to give it to it's rightful owner and still continues to bring the individual distress on a daily basis !

Each to their own I suppose. But certainly very wrong in my book. Having issues with your business/a bad time doesn't give you the right to keep someone else's money !

It sounds like you guys might have more of an understanding of this dealer than I do. I've not guessed who it is, nor tried to.

The chances of my optimism being well placed seem to be fading.

:(

I very much hope he pays the remaining 75% tomorrow.

Hope this gets paid. I had a similar situation and had to resort to the police to recover the car, turns out the whole business was a shame and the reposed over £1m of cars. I was very lucky. Fingers crossed, horrible situation. I will be selling a car soon and hate to hear this kind of thing. Would love to know who this is, even via PM. One for me to avoid.
