California 2018 - Summer Holiday
My wife turned 50 this year and to celebrate we broke away from the usual two weeks in Portugal and went to the USA. My brother in law lives in San Francisco so we spent some time with him, toured Napa and Sonoma. The final destination was Laguna Beach, a stunning part of the world with laid back surfers and multi-millionaires side by side. Southern California is car heaven and I soaked up as much as I could.
It was beautiful to see so many classics being used daily, 356’s would strum past, on a morning walk for coffee an immaculate Polo red 912 would pass by or a light ivory 911, just heaven. Every single day there was something to gaze at, plenty of attractive silicon as well.
Carpac USA
Ben (my son) and I had visited European Collectables and stumbled across these guys, so welcoming and happy for me to wander round the workshop looking at the engine rebuilds and the various cars getting rebuilt.
Ignore the Tahoe, that was the rental.
1965 911 restored by them for Porsche Las Vegas. Like new.
They were road testing a tangerine S while we were there, basically ripping it up and down the road outsdie the workshop, glorious to have the noise in the background wandering around the workshop.
I will post more as I get through them from diffenent garages and spots in the street. Enjoy, I loved every minute of it.

Just realised I’ve stayed in Laguna beach before. From memory there is a funky little VW restorer just out of town with a few old Porsche’s outside

It is a lovely area, missed the VW restorer but managed to see quite a few garages.

My second home (almost) - been to SoCal (Orange County) on 50 different trips and never tire of it. Always something going on, places to visit, stuff to buy. Love it.
