I've finally got round to having the 123 Distributor dropped into my 356. It really is excellent. The car is starting now on the turn without a lot of churning.
The unit has a quality feel to it and is engraved with the car model and date of manufacture. So if you want to take the variables out from badly made components (i.e. condensers) or points burning out, then I would definitely really recommend.
It seems to work fine on a 6 Volt system.

Re: 123 Ignition
I have both a rebuilt 022 in my 6v 356 and a 123 in my 12v 912. Both work well.

Re: 123 Ignition
No problems with mine either. They do exactly as described. A good upgrade with no drawbacks. Cheap compared to buying a cast iron Bosch or getting one professionally rebuilt. The only slight issue is that they don't look stock, but I don't care about that. I keep my 022 handy just in case.

Re: 123 Ignition
Recently fitted a 123 ignition to my old Lancia and very pleased with the result. The 60 year old dizzy worked OK ish
but wasn't always 100 % convincing. They stopped making dizzies for my car decades ago and have been unavailable
for many years. I was offered a used example for £ 1000 on the understanding that they would advise me when one
became available and it might not be as good as my existing dizzy
The 123 cost me approx £390 and has transformed the car's running.
She now fires up first time on all 6 cylinders and idles smoothly from either hot or cold. However I do fill up with Shell V Power
and add a bottle of booster to bring it up 102 octane equivalent as she does like a little tipple of the hard stuff.
Because the timing is now always correct the engine never 'pinks' and is much smoother throughout the rev range. Sharp bends
can now be taken in 4th gear rather than 3rd if necessary. It also looks very similar to the original.
Highly recommended.
