Rear panel needed

Post by Ben Nichols 1979 »

Morning all,

I have removed my rear bumper and found a bit of rust. The main rear panel which holds the rear lights and rear bumper could do with replacing.

Does anyone know where I can get one or does anyone have one?

I've looked in the US but they are a fortune. Mark at Roger Bray is looking for one for me but I think that will also be a fortune.

Thanks

Ben

Restoration design now make that panel, I notice design911 have it listed for about £250, or you can check price direct from restoration design in the Nederlands

How bad is yours? is it not repairable?

You could aslo try Fraser at Otley Van Trim - he has (or had) a couple of 914's he was breaking so might have what you need

I looked at the RD website and its not shown on there are yet but worth getting in touch with them

I recently replace half of my rear panel and had to use a good used panel I found in the US. Typically Restoration Design announced its replacement rear panel not long after I'd replaced mine.

I do have the left part of the used rear panel available if it's of any use for patches.

Sorry to hijack but slightly on topic - does anybody have any experience of shipping costs from Restoration Design in the Netherlands? I know it will vary on quantity/weight but will need a few panels at some point and assume it will be best to try and buy all at once due to shipping overhead.

Cheers

I don't remember them being unreasonable. Worth noting that unless they've updated their site to say so, all prices quoted are +VAT.

Also shop around, I got some panels cheaper from Roger Bray and 914-teile.de.

I asked them for a quote on a few bits a few years ago - it turned out it was cheaper to buy and ship from the US than from the EU site. However, the exchange rate was considerably more favourable then so that might not be the case today.

I recently purchased a few items - boot floor repair panel and front trunk floor. I think the shipping was about £30

Thanks guys. I ordered one from Design 911....... useless. Went from a week delivery to 3 week delay to a further 6 week delay - they had no problem taking my money at the time though!

Got a refund and got my welder to repair the original one.

Last time I use Design 911.

Hopeless.
