Salting the race track? WTF?
You have to wonder why they don't just buy a couple of these clip on snow plows for a Land Rover?

Roads were bad around Lower Bourne but to be honest, I couldn’t be bothered to stand around in the cold seeing cars I’d seen already somewhere else. And don’t even mention parking... give me sunshine and warmth anytime!anglophone1 wrote:We got there OK from Lower Froyle- I wondered where you were!KS wrote:Can’t get out of Farnham this morning so no MM for me today!

Does anybody know what engine the winning 904 had in it? I'm guessing something like a 2.5l flat 6? I saw on Inst that it was prepared by DK Engineering for the meet.

Re: Goodwood Members Meeting Live Stream
Rather stupidly (given the forecasts) I cleaned the 911 before setting off on the lovely sunny Friday.
I know it’s expensive, but given the recurring problems in the public car parks It was an added bonus to be in the Chicane parking area. Nice to see fellow SC Jaffa parked there.
I went with a mate who’s just joined the associate GRRC member list, so it was his first time at Goodwood. He was gobsmacked with the whole event. It could have been -20degrees, he’d still have been knocked out with the vast array of race cars, and the spectacle of the setting, and the racing. I really recommend going with someone like that. Reminds you of the uniqueness of what you can easily become blasé about. He’s in the middle of this pic, taking a shot of YOU 4, the green 904, pretty much the iconic car of the meeting.
For me, the Daytona Cobra’s were wonderful to see, in the paddock and in action. The green one was really exuberantly driven by the teenage Olivier Hart in the Gurney Cup.
Mind you, even in this beast he couldn’t catch his Dad who won it in his GT40.
I always find something new. I don’t think I’d seen the GT bodied Morgan SLRs up close before. Good looking cars.
Taking shelter in Bonhams I noticed this 76 3.0 litre Carrera Targa. Mileage about the same as mine at 85k , tatty in places. Like the seats though. Sold for 49,450 inc of premium. Are they really reaching that now? Or was this someone getting carried away?
On the Sunday I really couldn’t face going back to the freezing circuit, and opted to drive back home to watch the afternoon races live on ITV4. I gave my Chicane Parking ticket to a couple of old boys (older than me) who I overheard in the hotel talking about the difficulties they’d had getting their 500hp rear wheel drive Alfa quadrifolgio out of the mud and snow.
They were overjoyed.
Today I have to sluice the car down. Ugh.
Needless to say my mate stayed till much later on the Sunday. Loved it all.

- as far as I know, the car that James Cottingham was driving (& which won the Ronnie Hoare Trophy race) is #083 which still has its original 4-cam engine ...

Here's another, longer, clip that shows just how hard those 2 early 911's were trying:

I understand a 904/6 as are most of others.
Why jepodise a 200 k engine apart from anything else!

Well that is even more impressive as whenever I've seen 4 cams raced at events they tend to be near the back of the field. Probably because, as John said, the owners doesn't want to risk the engine.Lightweight_911 wrote:neilbardsley wrote:Does anybody know what engine the winning 904 had in it?
