Re: Off topic cycling chat for the cyclisti out there..
A 'proper' day's racing today at last! Good on Contador for having a go.
Froome's going to win in the end but I find him disappointing as a racer. rarely putting his nose into the wind. It's the team that wins for him.
Today Landa showed himself quite capable of winning but in the post race interview he confirmed he's there for Froome. Smacks of 2012, when Froome was capable of beating Wiggo but reverted to team orders. Team Sky must have a (financial?) stranglehold on their riders!

Froome's ungainly on the bike and boring in interviews but he is an entertaining rider. That descending at last year's tour was epic. And he attacks on the climbs just as much as any other GC contender.
Cuntador could hang it out yesterday because he doesn't need to compete again. Froome does.
It's a shame he has the character he does, he's brilliant on a bike but it's so hard to love him.

Why is Danny Madskillz not competing in that, now that I know its a thing?

I going to guess that either he already has and killed it or why bother when you can make crazy videos for much more moneyBurma-Shave wrote:Why is Danny Madskillz not competing in that, now that I know its a thing?

So yesterday I signed up to walk 100km from London (Richmond) to Brighton at the end of May. I did it 3 years ago and it took just under 24 hours
Today the postie brings me notification that I have a spot in Ride London.

Re: Off topic cycling chat for the cyclisti out there..
I guess I'm a bit late on this one but I would like to chip in. Although the weather today is shite outside just hoping it stays that way for the upcoming classics over in Belgium. These awesome monuments are so much more intense when the wind is howling off the North sea and the cobbles are awash with mud and cowcrap. Six and a half hours in the saddle in those conditions, they are very very tough guys. So soon I will be glued to Eurosport - Ronde Vlanderen, Fleche Waloone, Paris Roubaix, bring it on. And I will be getting a taste of the cobbles as I will be riding the Retro Ronde over in Oudenaarde this Year, a brilliant event for classic lightweights. Also lined up for this year is the Trois Vallee du Dieppe and the Ronde Picarde in September. Of course I shall be transporting my bikes in style via the 356. Here is my cobbled together roof rack that takes two bikes, the wheels inside of course, it started life as a MGB boot rack but it's very secure and minus the wheels does keep the overall height down.

I forgot to mention that the bikes on the rack are not Porsche bikes. The red on is an Italian 'Ciocc' and the maroon bike is also Italian but it's a 'Pinarello'. I resprayed both bikes somewhile ago, actually the red is Porsche India red and the maroon is a 944 colour so it's all in the family. My wife's company can reproduce any logo onto a sticker so that's where the Porsche name came from. The bikes being a few years old now are just used for training, the new race ones are all carbon and 11 speeds, and talking of racing, yes I do shave my legs because inevitably you will crash during the season and hitting tarmac at thirty mph does take off quite a bit of skin. When the scab that forms eventually comes off, a clean shaven leg is a much less painful proposition than a hirsute member.

Nice. I need to shave some weight around my waist before I consider shaving my legs for a race
However if Peter Sagan can go hairy then it most be cool.
I did Flanders a few years ago. The year before Peter Van Petegem had done the double. This year some kid called Tom was having a go. I bought a Lotto (PvP) gillet. Tom won and the rest is history

Re: Off topic cycling chat for the cyclisti out there..
sadly i got back onto the saddle a few years back to aid weight loss and get back to what I used to enjoy.. bashing out the miles.
Any one else have a mixed view on Full Carbon fiber frames.. I am not gelling with it.. but I do have two nice road race CUBE bikes, no idea why i went CUBE route but the first one was really good so I carried on.. I say sadly as in i am the middle aged Sunday morning Dad bod on the bike in Full CUBE matching lycra
Oh well... seen worse LOL..
must be working, 2 stone down and fitter.. but lighter in the pocket.. and yes I do look at the bike as it's in the lounge to look at but at £2700 I do clean it, to within an inch of it's life LOL
Just cost me £70 in tyres no legs where shaved for this photo...
I got quite far on my old CUBE bike CUBE are German may be that was the infulence.
until the day after this photo Blackpool Staff where excellent... now back on the road again. But with a " Z " bone ?? it's fixed who cares LOL..

Carbon is a great material if you are racing where every gram counts. You can get frame sets down to approx 700g. Strong, light and often VERY stiff. Some manufacturers use several tricks to reduce the shock of the stiff frame to varying degrees of success. Ultimately they are heading for the dumpster, often sooner if crashed.
We sel a lot of Titanium frames to people who want something light and responsive, but, want a frame which has a bit of "give" in it as per the old steel frames. The other benefit is that they are more durable and can go through multiple component upgrades over time. Many carbon frames have limited lifespans and are designed for a point in time and technology.

We do a lot of Lynskey titanium frames. Give us a shout if you wish.
