I know there’s been a few threads on this in various places, but still a little confused so hoping someone can set me straight..
Firstly - will a 911, vw Type 1, etc engine stand adapter fit a type 4 engine?
Secondly - do I actually NEED one to mount an engine to a stand (if for example I have a universal head on my stand) or is it just to provide clearance to allow assembly of the flywheel/clutch with the engine still on the stand? Can’t work out if it’s shaped to mount onto the face flat as there’s like a step on the end of the type 4 case..

A standard yoke doesn't work very well.
Have you seen this ddk vendor?

Re: Type 4 / 914 engine stand adapter / yolk
The universal engine stands require removing the flywheel which I prefer not to do, the type 1 engine fitting is the same as a type 4 one
