Was that Geoff Kremer, by any chance? Brilliant auto-electrician.

One of my regular favourite weekend pastimes used to be climbing up 4/5-high stacks of old cars looking for interesting parts - & trying to find 'hidden' scrapyards .... happy days :)

Had a yard like that at Fradley.
Full of 'cool' stuff, cheap and we were encourages to get in there to our hearts content.
Best one was at Hevingham in Norwich way, full of USA airforce pre and post WWII vehicles.
Had a guard dog called Fang....
Utterly terrifying.
Very very happy days in the '70s

There was a yard beside the M4 at Heathrow, 4 cars+ high. We went looking for a mini shell that was on top of the heap!
Looking back it was madness as the pile was rocking, but when young we are fearless, or stupid! Both I guess

I used to go to that yard in Fradley, think it was called The Willows or something. Rumour has it that the tax man closed him down

Ha!
It was close to the kart track and Curbough sprint track.
I was into street rods then, but after combing the yard we went on to watch the boy racers slide round the sprint track.
20 years later, I was at that track in my old 911....

Fantastic. I sprinted a ‘63 AH Sprite at Curborough and various classes of schoolboy sized racing cars at the kart track or skid pan as we called it.
