Wevo for 915 box: good idea?

Post by gturner008 »

I’ve been recommended to fit a wevo shifter to my 72 ST replica. Anyone have experience and can share?

Teaboy over on Impact bumpers raves about his. My understanding is they are good but won’t fix a poorly gearbox (you wouldn’t expect them to anyway)
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah

I've had both a wevo and a rennshift - both good,I prefer the rennshift on looks basis and comes complete, wevo you have to use existing shifter tower.

I have used several different systems including factory short shirt and Wevo is the best if you want a positive shift and intend to track day or race. Moved over to Wevo when my son started to use in competition with me 3 years ago and we have not missed a shift since. You need to buy PSJ coupling to go with it for the full effect.

Hope this helps.

That’s great advice. Thank you.

The ‘box has been rebuild and is in great shape. I’ll go source the parts and book in the guy the fit.

I spent a day hill climbing Roger Moran's 911 rally car 4 years ago.
It was a Bainbridge 915 box, WEVO internal gate, shift tower and coupling.

The gear change was so metallic and precise I thought it had an Impreza gearbox in it. Great combination if you have the money.

Stiffer engine and box mounts will make a significant improvement to the shift of a 915 too.

Thanks. I already have the stiffer engine and box mounts. I think I'll go with the Wevo and coupling.
