Which air do you put in your tyres?

Post by Grindon »

Which air do you put in your tyres?

I usually use Tesco air at 20p. However, last week I was stuck and had to use BP air and that was 50p. I think that the Porsche went much faster with BP air in, but that could just be psychological as someone told me that supermarket air is usually crap.

What do you guys think?

Cheers,

Kevin

I always though the discounted air that Tesco buy as an 'own brand' from BP has been diluted so you may be right. I try to stay away from automated inaccurate devices and use the good country air (not Highland am sorry to say) at home. I think it better to release the old air rather than just add a little. I like to re-fill from scratch though it takes a lot longer and I don't like leaving three wheels flat whilst pumping new air into no. 1. Also, although it is time-consuming, I really think using the old-fashioned foot pump has added benefits too. Good exercise being one!!
I try not to get pumped up about such things but I thought a sensible reply may benefit those feeling a little deflated over such a mundane tyresome task.

How often should I change the air in my tyres? Very 5000 miles?

Is it OK that I normally use my bike pump to inflate my tyres?

Probably diluted to 78.1% nitrogen.
