Guys - I would think this is fairly straightforward, but I can't seem to pull/ pry the old (rev limiting) rotor off the distributor so I can put on a new one.
I've tried tapping it, pulling, twisting etc., but I don't want to break anything. It will allow me to pull upward a small amount, and moves side to side, but then it seems to be held down by something - and not releasing?
Am I missing something? Release clip? Bolt underneath? Lubrication? Any tricks ......?
Everything is in good, dry, clean, non corroded shape under the cap.
I've done earlier 911's I've owned with no problem at all.
Cheers!

Just pull it! If you want a non limiting rotor, the 3.2 Carrera one is a direct replacement.

Re: How To Remove A Rev Limiting Rotor On An 83 SC
I recently bought another SC distributor and the rotor arm was stuck. It took a great deal of effort to get the rotor off as it had not been removed for some time, and in the end I had to prise it off using a screwdriver under the arm. You will see some of the rotor break off, but persevere. Mine had rusted against the shaft.
Good luck

Got it. Had to use a small pull hammer. What a pain .......! Thanks everyone. Next up: new clutch cable linkage assembly.
