Re: My 71 914
Caution with the Swepco oil. it made my change miles worse, and I mean crunch in every gear worse.
On talking to Chris at Fennlane, it is a viscosity thing and the oil is to slippery for the small synchros in a 901 box. (Try touching the stuff and you will see). Have an unused part can in the garage which will be there til I die!
I changed the oil to something more 'period' and it improved overnight. It could probably do with another change to get the remnants of the other stuff out.
Proceed with caution!
Car looks beautiful by the way (as does the split in the background at your painter's workshop)
Cheers
Wayne

Engine reassembly taking forever, partly as I had help stripping it so only know where about a third of the bits go. Should be done in the next week or somilhouse914 wrote:What's the news on yours ? engine rebuild ? stickers removed ?

Re: My 71 914
Do not use the Swepco oil, you will have all manner of problems, just use what Porsche stipulated, or what Chris at Fenn Lane advises or what Mick says at Bainbridge Engineering.
I used it in my 73T 911 trans and it was as Wayne says.
Waste of time, waste of money and horrid to get out once in.
