You know, if we have to pay to have our photos hosted online, why not pay DDK to do the hosting? Other forums such as Pelican and the Early 911S Registry host their own images. I am a paying member of ESR due to certain benefits I receive, and that could be the case here also.
I must say that I do go back and look through old posts, and the PB extortion image everywhere is horrifying. If other services are flooded, they may go the PB route as well; I do admit that PB seems to have committed suicide though.

Prety much all I used Photobucket to do is hosting for DDK.
I've had no more specific requesting for $399.99. Just that my account now has restricted useage rights.
'72 914/6GT (first love!)
'66 SWB 911 (now sold but still prostituting itself as a rally car rental for HERO)
'73 911 2.7RS
'73 911 2.8RSR (some time in the near future)
'67 911R 2.0 twin plug (sometime, maybe, never?)
996TT (sold)
997TT (sold)
My question is,
If you sign up to photobuckets demands do all your previous pictures return on ddk?
Regards
Mike

As you say $ or two per month would have been realistic and I think a reasonable % of people might have paid.
You'd almost guess they were trying to kill it off ! $400 was never going to work. Not even close.

Probably a last ditch attempt to make it viable - if they get 0.1% of customers sign up they will make a small fortune.
I don't think we can really moan at them though, they've been hosting most of the worlds photos for free since just about the beginning of online photos....it was never going to last.
I do think $49 a year would have got way more sign ups though and it is sad when you look through some forums now, almost every picture in every old thread has gone....
