Grey 911T

Post by sng45 »

Just for a change I'm going to buy myself another car !

At the moment I'm debating between another 356 and this grey 911

http://www.leemayorrestorations.com/car ... slate-grey

I spoke with him at the NEC a few years ago and looked at two cars on his stand which he'd restored and they looked to be well done. This seems to be reasonable price in todays market - any opinions very welcome please

Thanks

Guru,

Hope things are good , great to see you posting !!!

How's about this after your Moggy comment.

I've driven this its amazing, completely re engineered, cost £55k ish to build available for under £20K if its not sold already.

Keep ticking those corners off the calendar

It looks OK.

The bonnet isn't fitted neatly. And I'm not sure about the ns door either. The steering column shroud isn't done up. The paint in the door shuts looks like it was rolled on. The torsion bar cover gaskets are missing. It doesn't look like it's been restored under the bonnet. Door seals look a bit lumpy. And, sin of all sins, I reckon that bonnet badge has red bars.

I guess it's not matching numbers either.

I'd want to [get a specialist to] look at it very carefully before parting with £72K.

But it looks a bit like the one they sold to David 'call me Sir' Beckham, so that's good.

What about a nice 69 912 for half the price of that T and probably a better car?

Could be interesting - I've never owned a 912 before - I'd glanced at this previously

I've seen the T at Lee's and quite liked it, it felt good. But then I know as a buyer I am hopeless at assessing cars, so need someone with proper skills and knowledge to do that.

I spend all my time thinking 'how much?' when I look at 911s and I think the same here. It's not anything like an original car. A T with a 2.0 E engine on webers, new interior, repro seats, nice (but not T) front brake calipers, nice (but not T) wheels.

But, when I saw it I did like it.

And as for the Beckham/McQueen/LM connection, it's a bit tenuous!

Hi All
The 1970T they have for sale sounds a more honest car...(IMHO).

All the best

It's had a few replacement parts including both (later style) doors.
Nice looking car though. For sale by the owner direct too (was on pistonheads).

Mike

Just wondering, how can you tell they are later doors from the outside? My car has a 964 door on the drivers side and I'd like to think it's not that obvious!

That's where mine are, about 6mm behind the frame and mine are def the original doors, or do you mean the release on the door inner armrest?
