Re: Restoring an engine lid grill
Hi Kieron, I will see what I have, but if not I can get them made. It just takes a little while.
Thanks
Alan

Re: Restoring an engine lid grill
i have a 2.4 grill that a couple of the bars are missing some of their black anodising. can you dismantle these type of grills and if so, how without destroying the bars. Also interested to learn what rivets to use - its not pop/blind rivets as the rivets have no hole in them....

Re: Restoring an engine lid grill
Andrew - they can be dismantled, I have mine apart at the moment. I think from his post Alan is looking to see what he has in the way of rivets otherwise I have an idea for an alternative which I haven't tried yet.

Re: Restoring an engine lid grill
Are the long horizontal black bars glued on to the vertical 'frames'?
I don't see any rivets there, only rivets holding the vertical 'frames' together where the captive bolts are.

Re: Restoring an engine lid grill
Each vertical mounting bar has 13 raised pegs which the horizontal bars are pushed on to. The pegs have serrated sides so they grip the horizontal bars. You have to very carefully prise the bars off the pegs.Dougieboy1 wrote:Are the long horizontal black bars glued on to the vertical 'frames'?

If this isn't clear I can take some pictures tomorrow.
This is for the later grille, not sure if it's the same for an earlier one.

Re: Restoring an engine lid grill
This is what a vertical supports look like with the horizontal bars removed..
The spacers are available from Rose Passion and probably Porsche (looks like a tap washer to me )
