Were they as good in action (ie race results) as they are to look at?
The earlier (aluminium-bodied) version - retrospectively often referred to as the TZ1 - was very successful in events such as Sebring 12hrs, Targa Florio, Le Mans, Nurburgring 1000km, etc but mainly class victories rather than outright wins.

The car pictured earlier is a (grp-bodied) TZ2 which didn't really get the development it deserved - it only lasted 2 yrs as Alfa were concentrating their efforts on the GTA & the quad-cam Tipo 33.

I can't get my Lola's alloy tub clean as that and it's not a road car.
That's an old picture - it's not as shiny as that now ! ...

whats with the big flap, is that purely cooling? seems like it would create a lot of drag..

Ref the fab Skoda silhouette above.
My Lola was a refugee from the Wendy Wools series which had hand-fulls of these great race cars based on redundant racing tubs and chassis.
Great period of motorsport in the UK.

That's a VW Fastback powered by a DFV engine - maybe DFVW on the Sun strip should have been a clue.....

Driver was Colin Hawker who previously had the DFV in a Capri
