Did something drastic before Christmas!

With the help of Neil Bardsley (cheers fella!) dragged the engine out as I decided it was worthy of a rebuild for it's 50th birthday present!

was running an OLD set of 1720 barrels and pistons. Still on standard standard bearings.
tired out heads but no cracks.
pitted camshaft and shagged out followers

anyway - not a huge amount of rebuild pics but it went something like this

JE Forged 86mm pistons
AA Biral cylinders
Neuter SX-2 camshaft from Mike & Paul at PRS - thanks guys!
Refaced the cam followers (PRS again)
Ron LaDow "full flow" filter
NOS Porsche standard sized bearings
ISKY dual valve springs
Heads fully rebuilt with new valves, seats, oversized guides, 3 angle valve job etc.... by FennLane Motorsport

everything (apart from the heads and machining) done by yours truly, at home, in the car port - first engine rebuild and loved it! Learnt so much - recommend it to anyone :-)

seems good and better than before but I'm still being rather gentle with it (only done about 50 miles on it so far :)

Thanks :)

Think they were intervalve. Nothing fancy.
Chris at fennlane Motorsport ordered them in for me and he also arranged the machining work that needed doing on them too. New seats, oversize valve guides, 3 angle valve job etc.

I then got new collets, isky valve springs from PRS356 in Essex, then did the rest myself.
With the isky valve springs you need quite a lot more valve spring shims than with stock springs.
Discovered that the shims are the same size as used on performance vw type1 engines with dual valve springs- and a lot cheaper than oe porsche ones which was handy.
