If that's the design he finally went for - just imagine the trash bin with all the discarded designs... Frightening thought...

Darren C wrote:I decided to place 2 x wires in the base of the channel running either side of the bolts, with raised ends and lightly grease the bolt heads before the compound was poured in.
These acted as cheese wires and at the next engine change by pulling on them they cut the compound from each side of the channel and it lifted straight out.
This saved several men many hours and the Fleet really appreciated my idea..It's been implemented on Warships ever since!
Fantastic bit of history there Darren!! :-) I remember seeing the cheese wires being implemented during an olly change whilst doing my fleet time on Sheffield (the 22, not the 42) and thinking it was a brilliant idea  . The only technical change I got close to implementing was changing the colour of submarines, but that's another story!

it's the prototype for the M6 GT which never really got off the ground. Bruce Mclaren eventually used the prototype as his private car, as evidenced here where he has clearly gone to collect the milk in it.

Here is a link to the 'for sale' advert a few years back. t

The UVA is in fact a kit 'version' of the M6 so the UVA should pass for the Mclaren, not the other way round. :P
1972 911S
1944 VW Schwimmwagen (originally a Porsche typ128, eventually VW166)
A bunch of other crap (according to my wife)

Yes, I know, I was joking hence the wink smiley

The UVA was an import/copy of the US Manta kit made famous in the 1980's TV show Hardcastle and McCormick called the Coyote X.
The early Manta cars were VW beetle based with Porsche 914 engines and they even built one on a Delorean Chassis
UVA of Newbury did a Rover V8 version around 1984.
