Ren,
I presume? your friends car came from America? Are you aware KOSTAL make ignition switches in N. America. Below the link to their information.
That name is unusual and to me the info already posted should have clarified the situation. My 59 A has the same switch as probably every T2 and T5. Maybe it was modified to a Kostal product??? Maybe they are UK based too seems that way with their web address.

Ren,
Since my post above, I have established Kostal is a German company. Been going since 1912. I would look on this link for their address and ask them. Never know they might reply.

Re: 356 ignition switch question
You know what. Im now starting to doubt myself as it has been several months since i last looked at my car and my friends. I've only got pictures on my phone and it is quite possible/more than possible they are of the light switch as I can't see the front.
I took a real nice picture of both backs for reference. But can't remember what the ref was. lol.. I think it was because my friends car has an extra wire which is big fat and red and mine has no white with black indicator wire.
It's been a long year....

Ren wrote:Sorry All, thats not the type of switch we both have.
It has 30/57/56/58b/58.
If you have a test meter you can work it out. 30 will be the power in, just test continuity to the other terminals at each turn of the switch. The last turn will of course be the starter solenoid which needs the meaty part of the switch.

Re: 356 ignition switch question
If you use the headlight switch you won't need a key to start the car.
