private fleet insurance
Anyone use this as an option?
We currently have three cars on the road, two on a multicar policy (which is BS in my opinion) and the other (my wifes car) as a stand alone
Just wondering when we've finished the e36 and that needs insurance too whether it makes sense, or whether 4x separate insurance policies (each suited to the individual car)
For reference we have..
1x modern / new car
1x modern classic
1x modern rare car
1x heavily modified car (like REALLY heavily modified)

Fleet policy through Heritage, 5 cars, wife and I covered, £1100. Good saving over doing it separately.

Re: private fleet insurance
ZOIKS! I don't think our 4 are worth that
good to know it can be reasonable value though.. We have amies x3 on at about 400 a year, my z4 and 3 series are about 300 each, and the other 3 series im assuming will be somewhere around there too. if we could get a fleet policy (or "private collection policy" sounds even better!) for around 1000 we'd basically be buy 3 get one free

Re: private fleet insurance
What's the difference between private fleet and multicar?
I had an insurance via Pace-Ward which was family-fleet cover. I paid £3,100 for the family cars and the various offspring. I then tried Admiral and ended up with the same family and family cars cover for £1,100. That was a very happy insurance renewal.
However I don't car much about those (now 4) cars with three drivers (one a youngster). So not that bothered about the choice of repairer etc. I have to say that my experience (unlike others) with Admiral and Elephant has been very good - even the claim we had.
But for my three special cars (914, 2x911), they are on individual policies with Henderson Taylor. This is mostly to get agreed valuation.
The devil is in the detail about what you want from your ins policy. The Pace-Ward cover did the job, but didn't operate with NCB. I didn't think, but after a few years, I had no NCB left to use elsewhere - made it very hard to change. I was reconciled to sticking with them until all the kids departed. However, one year the policy changed and assigned NCB back to the drivers under the policy. That made it possible to move!
I think it's all about trying different quotes, getting recommendations and reading what you get from your policy. If one doesn't read it, one can't complain if one doesn't like it!

I had my Admiral renewal in for 2 cars
2004 Smart ForTwo and the 2012 Evoque. £1900
Am looking around a bit!
The 3 youngtimer Mercs are on a classic policy via the MB club and the Pagoda on an agreed value elsewhere. All of them are under £300 a year each. Might also be givoing RH a call!

Re: private fleet insurance
Just spoke to RH and they won't even touch the youngtimers in London unless they are garaged. Assuming I can get a garage, that's £1000 a year per car so perhaps my deal isn't as bad as I thought!

Have you done the usual with admiral? Phone them up and give them a hard time about the renewal. It seems to work for me. They seem to be able to find discounts to apply!

Somehow with one phone call my policy is now £500 cheaper than it was proposed last week!
