Well in which case it's a complete mystery to me how the seller successfully defended against Paul's court action.

I'm not sure if anyone else saw the report, but virtually every answer to me was justification that it wasn't the original car. I'm not sure there was even one part original to the car. The VIN was badly restamped, wrong engine, wrong gearbox, ally trailing arms, probably non-original seats and interior if a race car as claimed, although I don't remember that from the the time this was all going off.

It is a vivid example of the dangers of going to court and putting your trust in a judge who has zero knowledge of the subject matter, hence the need for "expert" witnesses.

All becomes very hard when you have made a big-money mistake (or been conned). Comes back to Nick's words, do your homework!
Mind all this talk makes me want to get an RS-Rep again!

It's a bit more than that in this case. AFAIK there was a declaration of the car's non original shell on delivery. It could have easily been refused at that time.

I am still intrigued by one point -- a potentially important distinction raised by an earlier poster. Maybe someone here knows the answer to his point?

Was the evidence, the legal case and the judge's actual decision about whether the car was, is, and should henceforth, be regarded as a genuine RS in UK legal terms.... or was the evidence and judge's ruling about allegations regarding how the car was represented at the time during one particular sales transaction?

Potentially significant difference if it is for sale in UK again?

Don't know or have a view myself as wasn't at the trial nor seen the car, the reports or trial documents, but curious to understand the actual facts.

The 2008 report aimed to clarify that this car was 2.7RS #1316 and that no other car was claiming this identity (although perhaps there is now a car in Japan??).

It also made clear that this car should be represented as a rebodied 2.7RS.

Personally, I think it is very clear what this car is and history etc and the seller is being very open about it. It just boils down to how much a buyer is willing to pay.
The force is strong in this one ......

June 2009

My fabulous and concourse Porsche 911 2.7RS Carrera Touring is for sale. This car represents one of the worlds greatest all time driving classics and drives and handles as good as it looks - put simply ... it is superb in every way (especially when behind the wheel!)

Car is LHD and has just undergone a thorough and comprehensive restoration and I doubt there is a nicer 2.7RS around on the planet ... work included ...

Full concourse repaint to factory original colour of India Red (one of only 30 2.7RS's produced in 1973 in this unique colour)

Full 2.7RS engine rebuilt by the best in the business, Michael Ruah in Germany (well known German RS specialist) invoice for 14,000 euros

Porsche factory replacement of new 915 gearbox (done at Porsche factory) invoice for 10,000 euros

New carpets and interior refinished when necessary

Car comes with the following ...

Rare and hard to obtain 'FIA - HTP' (Historic Technical Papers) ready for competition if the next owner decides to use it for some form of competing - no roll-bar as car has been used for road motoring pleasure for last 20 years at least

Ride, handling, steering and suspension set-up by Michael Ruah - rides, handles and goes like no other Porsche 911 RS - superb to drive

Registered in the UK and with brand new MOT and Tax

Car has large history file and full Porsche Germany Documentation. It was re-bodied back in the early 1980's in Germany with a Porsche factory 1973 body shell. This is a genuine 2.7RS Carrera Touring

Whole car is superb and drives perfectly - the best available!!

Very rarely on the market - only selling because of business venture

Offers - Circa £105,000 UK Pounds sterling

Apart from the trigger's broom debate how does a concours repainted in red leave quite so many white bits! The white is only covering the orange anyway :)
