In the early 60's a couple of Lancia enthusiasts were tipped off about an unloved 1936 Lancia Astura rusting away stuffed in a hedge in an English garden.
They bought it for the princely sum of £ 15.00.
They then contacted the Pininfarina coachworks and Battisa Farina confirmed that only 6 were made and offered to restore it - FOR FREE ! Image

Eric Clapton eventually bought the car and commented that it was " The most fun I've had offstage and out of bed ".
He later sold it and the new owner spent 6 years restoring it again.

Last weekend he entered it for the Concours D' Elegance at Pebble Beach resulting in

1936 Lancia Astura Pininfarina Cabriolet - 2016 Best of Show.

That Lancia really is beautiful and very distinctive. Steady Barker was a big Lancia man, he had one they were building a special from. It had a short chassis, so he called it a short Astura.

Our Graham, a good third in the race at Oulton today, sounded great.

Hi All

This turned up at our place yesterday, Ferrari 330 GTC, 1967.

I think it is worth more than my house!

Cheers
Paul
