I'm a new 912 owner!
Well, I've bitten the bullet and just bid and won an auction for a 1967 912 hot rod. Bringatrailer.com - a good auction site. Just got to bring it across now. Anyone know of good shipping company from NY to UK?

This guy ? Was watching that myself

KINGSTOWN shipping have a good reputation...mixed reviews on SCHUMACHER CARGO LOGISTICS, but they were ok when I used them.
Cracking looking car and spec, sounds like a lot of fun !! Just not sure about the ducktail, additional lights upfront and the steering wheel
Cheers

Looks great. Agree I'd remove the LEDs & some of the internal bling but overall look super. Hope the first drive lives up to the description!!!!

That looks like a lot of fun, 180 bhp combined with the more even weight distribution of a 4 cylinder should make for a hell of a nice drive, well done!

+2 - Great people, brought my 78/84 SC Hotrod from Omaha to Southampton in late 2014, people are amazed when i tell them how cheap the shipping/duty was.70sThrowback wrote:+1 for Kingstown, I used them and they were really good.
When I finally buy a 914 they'll be doing it too!

Thanks guys. Yes, the car is the bringatrailer... One.
So far so good. Just organising the shipping now. Guess about 6 weeks as car is in NYC. Very much looking forward to getting the thing here. At £30k in to my garage seems like a reasonable buy. Should be a bit of fun.

That looks the business and having an engine built by Ron Fleming is a cool touch, should be good and strong. Obviously no trouble shifting gears by the look of the video. I'm looking forward to seeing your car at a show next year.
Good luck. And sort those led's out

Re: I'm a new 912 owner!
Car will be on a ship next week. The. 10'days. Kingstown are handling the UK side, with Penbrooke Marine the US side.
I've been emailing Rob and Greg at Fat Performance - they have confirmed the engine is one of theirs. Just asking a few questions now about maintenance - power and things to look out for. I'm totally new to type 4 engines. 6 pot, fine... 4 pot no idea!
I'm probably going to switch the tail back to the original deck lid (which comes with the car) and put back the steering wheel. I'd also like to change the gear knob for something more in keeping with the car).
I'm very excited now about getting the car. I hope it's as good as the description and photos. I think it will be, but you just don't know...

Ron (not Rob) is a great friend of mine of long standing – I stay with him whenever I go to the States and when he comes over here every two years, he stays with me in Cornwall before we head off to Europe for two weeks (next visit here June 2017). Between them, Ron Fleming and Greg Aronson (another longtime friend) know more about building big Type 4 engines than anybody, so you are in very safe hands.gturner008 wrote:I've been emailing Rob and Greg at Fat Performance - they have confirmed the engine is one of theirs.
$33K – that's a hell of a deal!
