The Final Furlong

Post by 67Matt »

As usual, I'm after a favour.
Just some final bits to add and I'll be ready for an MOT after a three year restoration.
As the doors and bonnet had work done at the bodyshop, the original holes for the door mirrors (Durant style) and bonnet badge are no more.
Could somebody let me know the correct distance to top edge/front edge of mirror gasket, and how far up the bonnet badge should be?
The car is a 67 (RHD, although assume that makes no difference).
As ever, any help appreciated.
Best,
Matt

Are the holes on the backside of the door mirror also gone? There are two access holes for the retaining nuts which should still be there and give you the correct location. Can measure mine at the weekend if nobody else gets here first.

I'm in the same boat regards bonnet badge so hope someone can help.

Did they weld the holes up? If not, and it's just filler you should be able to see the holes from the inside.

Thanks Chaps, used the holes on the inside of the doors to locate the mirrors and they look spot on.
Booked in for MOT on Friday, keep your fingers crossed for me!

If you used the holes on the inside of the doors for the passenger side then the mirror will be next to useless on the passenger door if you are using durrant mirrors!

Yes, you're absolutely right - I think these must have been designed for decorative purposes only!
