1969e factory rhd that was stolen in the
Eighties and had half the vin number removed

I would have thought that Porsche would be sympathetic to your story, try going through your local club register

I have called porsche Australia with no luck and I'm a member of the typ901 register our records
Show that no 1969 year car in pastel blue came to oz the car has the original paint I'd plate and
It's never been removed and it has blue inside the car everywhere the gauges
Are all dated 8/68 and 9/68 and its a factory rhd car and was a sportomatic as it
Has the mounts in the engine bay for the oil tank I can read 1192 of the vin
Number and production no 1090177 I was hoping it was a uk deli car if I can work
Out how load pics I will

If you had the UK registration umber I'm sure it would be possible using the AFN files.

Hi, firstly for loading pictures please look this - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3864
In summary, use something like photobucket.com and paste the link in to your posts.

For the VIN, I can maybe help with a link that narrows down the next digit of the VIN - https://www.stuttcars.com/technical/vin-decoder/ and similar information is here - http://www.elferhelfer.com/fzident/fzident69.htm

From these links, assuming they are correct, it confirms you have a 911E for 1969MY. The next digit is 0 for coupe or 1 for targa or 2 for Karmann coupe.

You could also try emailing Porsche Club GB as they have a register for sportomatic cars so may have more information - smat@porscheclubgb.com or alternatively Porsche Cars GB - customer.assistance@porsche.co.uk (that is the email address that picks up requests for certificates of authenticity so will have access to the records that show the production numbers and chassis numbers - whether they will be willing to share that information I cannot say).
I would suggest approaching Porsche Club GB first as their website notes records show only 192 sportomatics were imported to the UK between 68 and 73. If they know that then hopefully they know the full list or can narrow it down for you based on model year, model and colour.

If it was a UK car originally it might also have the smaller seat belt compliance aluminium tag (or the two rivet holes where it used to be) just above the normal chassis aluminium tag on the front slam panel. Seat belts were compulsory in new cars in the UK from 1968 so your car 'should' have it.

Pm sent.

I'm guessing the VIN will be very low. From my data the 911S seems to make up the majority of the early bodies (LWB 1969 model year).

I thought it was an E?
Any similar trends here Dave?

Mike, Yes it is an E. My point was that with so many 911S being build from the early chassis, there were few 911T & 911E or 912's.
