Whilst going through the history following some queries brought up by Gary (GDC) and Barry, it appears the car was owned by Arthur Thompson in the late 80's/early 90's who I assume is the gentleman who won several AMMC Sprint championships and Hill climbs.

Image

The car was later owned by Nigel Watkins 2003 to 2006. Would anyone happen to know if Nigel raced the car at all as there are lots of recepts at Autofarm for repairs but not sure if they were cosmetic to get the bodywork and engine up to scratch following its racing past. There are lots of sunroof, electric window and cosmetic bits which would indicate the latter?

Nigel was an early DDK'er. He came on the 1st DDK CLM trip back in 2004 ( there is only me Nick Moss still on ddk from that 1st trip .. nick was in the bmw  :) )

Can't remember if Nigel did any sprints in your 2.4, but it did have a rear safety devices roll cage in. He sold it and restored 'limey' with autofarm ( '74 carrera) which I think he did sprint, then swapped that out for a 964RS to compete with. Not heard from nigel since then

Thanks James, pieces are coming together with regards to the historic repairs.
Gary (GDC) also mention a girl racer Ann Johns who raced it...?

In about 1990 Arthur did an article for Porsche Post about sprinting his 911.
It was that article that made my mind up to hill climb mine, starting at a sprint at Curborough.

Interesting this is that car.

I think I got a few passenger laps with him round curborough at a Gary-organised track day. At that stage he'd sold the 964RS and built a re-creation for a lot less

Some loverly work there, and most of that is hidden behind others panels ! Having been on a panel beating class many years ago where I discovered my complete lack of ability, I can really respect the amount of skill and work that Barry puts into this

It just makes you smile doesn't it? Joy to see these cars coming together under his spell.

He could make Harry Potter disappear, let alone welds!
