2.4S Bodyshell with V5

2.4S Bodyshell with V5
I bought this several years ago , and have been in the process of building it into a 2.8RSR rep.
It had been used as a tarmac rally car in Ireland for many years , fitted with a 3.6 engine and 964 bodykit.
I have now obtained another shell to complete the RSR , as it seems wrong to use an S for this project now , so I am now selling this as a bare shell.
It is now structurally solid , but has had a lot of repairs - new sill , front suspension pan , repairs to front roof edge and pillars , and still has the cage welded in from it's racing days - so concours it is not !! Rear arches are fibreglass RSR.
It has the original chassis plate , and I have new style V5 in my name.
looking for offers around £20k , please pm with any questions.
Thanks Mark

Re: 2.4S Bodyshell with V5
Interesting prospect - Can't be too many 2.4S to bring back to life these days.
Might be persuaded to sell my complete original and fully rebuilt 2.4S (minus MFI) if someone was really thinking of taking this back to original 2.4S spec and turning it into a £150k car. Lots of parts to buy to do it, but it is a 2.4S and one step from heavens door (2.7RS )

Is this an original RHD? Has the front panel been cut to accommodate a bigger fuel tank? Looks perilously close to the chassis number?

Sorry for the delay in replying - we've just moved house at the weekend , on mobile signal , and no internet access as yetmanipou wrote:Is this an original RHD? Has the front panel been cut to accommodate a bigger fuel tank? Looks perilously close to the chassis number?
Anyway , you're right , the chassis number is partly cut out as it was fitted with a rectangular ATL fuel cell.
Fortunately , the important number is still there , and chassis plate and V5 back this up.
All the best

Re: 2.4S Bodyshell with V5
I may some history for this car as I have researched Porsches in rallying for a few years now. Might be of interest to whoever buys this project.
What is the original colour of the car ?

I've sent this to the seller today
I'm David Whelan from Cork in Ireland and I own the 2.4S you are selling. I bought the car and raced it in 2005 and 2006. Among the races I did were the PCGB Festival at Brands Hatch in Sept 2005 and here at Mondello Park. Later I bought a 993 RSR and the engine from the car you are selling went into that, The car was stored at a friends house in Dublin and was stolen from there.
I've all the docummentation, including the original V5, for the car from the time it came to Ireland to the time it dissapeared. The VIN is 9113301350 and the Registration was RVT 423M. It had no engine but there was a gearbox in it. As you have said, the ATL Fuel Tank obscurred the end of the VIN. It was built to look like a 964 RS for Paul Fuchs who rallied here in Ireland a number of times in the mid/late 90s.It was bouught by Joe Connolly from Killkenny who then sold it to Jim O' Reilly who sold it to me in early 2005. It was always used in Rallies/Races in Ireland and was not road registered here. I'm attaching a number of photos which show the car where I had it stored.
I'm sorry that you have bought and worked on a car that was stolen but I have begun legal procedures to recover my car and have reported it to the police. May I ask you from whom you bought the car and when? I'm posting this on the thread as well as sending you a PM. In no way am I accusing you of knowingly buying my stolen car but I intend to get it back.

Well. I wasn't expecting that.
Hope it ends up where it rightfully belongs.

Re: 2.4S Bodyshell with V5
What a shocker.
Hopefully it can get traced back to the thieving bar steward and all innocent parties can get their money back. Fingers crossed.
I once bought a stolen VFR800 that had its ID changed. I had owned it for a couple of years before one day the police turned up at the door asking to see it. I showed it too them, they confirmed it was stolen and took it way immediately and never saw it again. They had busted a crime ring and were searching for over 100 stolen bikes to break the bad news to the unsuspecting owners. I was their 3rd unlucky owner of the day !
Mine had passed through an unsuspecting dealer before being sold to a guy who then sold it to me. It took me 12 month but I managed to get most of my money back from the dealer (not that they were happy about it, but I was able to hold them accountable as they have a liability for selling any stolen vehicle whether they were aware or not. I felt a bit guilt but my solicitor advised it was my only way to get any recompense and otherwise I would have taken all the loss purely because I happened to be the one holding the baby when the music stopped). To add insult to injury the perfectly good bike was by that stage owned by an insurance company who had paid out on the original theft and therefore owned the bike, but since then they had gone bust. It sat in the Police compound for 6-9 months collecting storage charges before being destroyed. Total waste.
