Help finding a car

Post by jonno1 »

Not a Porsche. My late parents TR4.

Still around - on SORN according to the DVLA.

Its a 1962 RHD car, with registration 9067 RW.

A photo with my mum sat on the bonnet back in Cardiff in the 60s.

I have tried the DVLA (including sending a letter for them to pass on) various TR forums with no luck.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

quick enquiry says it should be just off the road as its SORN but still alive and in the UK
no MOT but SORN typically means long term laid up in a garage or being restored.

not sure if you did this already or the DVLA told you about the SORN

Still trying to find this....

Done all I can to find it - "Looking for" ad in Classic & Sports Car most recently. No luck.

Its still on SORN.

Cheers

Jonathan

P.S. I would pay a reasonable finder's fee to anyone that comes up with info leading to its location.

I've emailed a screen grab of the car to my business partner, whose German cousin is a long term TR4 or 5 owner. He has been involved in regularity rallies in the UK and abroad with TR owners for years.
He might have bumped into it, you never know, so hopefully he will know where to start or at least someone here or Europe that may.
Cheers

Many thanks for the replies and offer of help...much appreciated.

I have previously tried various TR specialists and forums. I reckon its sat in storage somewhere as it's been on SORN for years now.

Hi,

If you PM me your contact details I can put you in touch with the TR Register TR4 registrar who may have a record of the car and its current owner.

My Business partners cousin is over from Germany in his TR5, doing a tour of Scotland with a group of Triumphs, he said he will get something in the next TR magazine to see if it jogs anyone's memory

Jonno,

Some years ago, the DVLA used to be prepared to pass on a letter from you to the owner

I do not know if that service still exists but worth asking - the cost, when I used it on one occasion, was £25-00

Thanks all, all help appreciated.

I have again sent the request for info (form v 888) together with a request to forward a letter to the current keeper. That requires a £5 cheque and letter, no form as such.

I tried all this a few years ago to no avail.

Quick update - the DVLA returned my £2.50 cheque as the reason for my request for info didnt pass mustard. But they did confirm they sent my letter on to the registered keeper - so now its a matter of prayer/cosmic ordering/luck - so keep your collective fingers crossed!
