I nearly missed this, although it did get a passing mentioned on another thread that it was coming up for auction.

Not a car I know. I hope it will be staying in the UK, otherwise another one will drop off the shrinking number of UK registered 911S 2.4 RHD Targas.

Hi Johnfcd911 wrote:If I recall correctly, digging deep into my memory from around the time I acquired my car (I am only referring to 911S F Series Targas because that is all I know) there were approximately 490 (?) F Series S Targas produced (RHD and LHD). Am I right in thinking that there were no RHD Targas produced prior to the F Series cars?
Of that total, as Mike says, 46 (I thought it was 49) were RHD S Targas imported into the UK
In the very early ‘90s the consensus was that there were 13 RHD S Targas remaining in the UK.
In the late 90s I met a guy at Oulton Park who had an S Targa that he had exported to Australia where he lived.
I think there was an olive (coloured) car which was for sale a couple or three years ago which may have gone to Australia as well.
That ties in with the theory that there are now 11 known examples of the RHD S Targa. However, I have always been sceptical about the specific number remaining, primarily because the attrition rate (46/49 > 11) looks high. Bearing in mind that the figure of 13 remaining was from a period when these car were only about 18 years old. There are always other make “barn finds”, our Porsches should be no different, there will be some hidden away for sure. As Mike indicates one or two more have surfaced recently. There was a “RHD” car for sale last year but it was actually a LHD-RHD conversion so does not count.
There are those who have more detailed data and I stress that my sketchy memory is only related to the 911S.
Because so few RHD Targas were made the T, E and S seem to get lumped together so that legend seems to indicate that the total built and the number remaining referred to above covers all RHD Targas. I think it would be really good to detail them separately by model. In fact I suspect there will be even less RHD E Targas.
Of course I look forward to being corrected by those with a more detailed knowledge
John
Been looking at DDK threads on UK cars that were imported to Australia.
Another shorter DDK thread eluded to 2or 3 cars sent to oz back in the day.
I note you mention you met a guy at Oulton who imported one to Oz in the 90's.
Of interest do you remember any of the car details - colour etc?
Regards Michel

Hello Michel
I have no other information, it was a casual chat in between races at Oulton Park and sadly I cannot remember any details.
Sorry I cannot be of more help.
Cheers

Re: 1973 911 Targa
Hi All,
I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I thought I would add to it. From my understanding there were 12 E's delivered in to the UK as RHD. I do have some paper work relatignto numbers, but it is in storage fro the next few months (its been there for years to be truthful). I have a Signal Yellow car, chassis #911 321 0711. I think it arrived in Australia some time in the late 70s.
This is the current status for the car

Hi Chris
Welcome to Ddk. Your resto thread is great but I note there hasn't been any updates for a while. Pity about the metalwork shop going bust in the middle of the work. Anything further to add now?
The 1973 Rhd Targas are are all pretty rare cars but not quite as rare as you suspect above. See the previous page for the actual numbers of T's E' and S's.
Regards
Mike

Yes I have a 1973 911 S targa RHD which I bought about a year ago and which is undergoing restoration as we speak . I read in Octane that there were about 10 of these in the UK but who knows?
