I would have preferred to fit a nice old worn rear grill to this car although considering where I started I'm fairly pleased with how my modded original grill rurned out......



....with the absence of the central bars it shows a lot of the painted recess that would normally be covered and looks a little odd to my eye......I'm thinking I might satin black the recess the grill sits in as per early SWB cars, this would possibly give the appearance of a full size grill?....



....any thoughts?

The eagle eyed will have noticed that the front suspension was missing rotors when I posted this photo! .....

.....well, long story short, Porsche Turbo disks from 1980 come with an integrated bell/hat with a 22mm offset....too wide to be fitted to a narrow bodied car.

I thought I needed to use one of the American specialists who manufacture these items for a narrow 911 using 930 calipers and these turned out to be either out of stock or unable to be contacted just as I needed them....

.....a shout out for help on EarlyS highlighted the fact that 78/79 rotors and hats were still available from Porsche and these would work for me.....but at a price!

I visited Ben Coles on Monday night to have my cam covers chromated and while we chewed the fat I mentioned my front rotor dilemma......'oh, I make those' came his reply....a quick visit to his store and he came back with these!.....



...two weeks of chasing around and what I needed was right under my nose!

Soon to be fitted to the huge front disks I collected from Porsche Centre Swindon today! .....

The front rotors and hats are the last thing needed to get my car rolling.....



....rear suspension and brakes all in place....





....under the hood is almost complete (fuel pumps currently loose and not yet bolted into position).....



....totally made up that the ATE brake reservoir bottles became available.....



....the excellent 100 litre fuel tank was one of the first produced by Marek Lappock (early911parts on here)......Marek also kindly gifted the centre fill and cap which has an integrated breather....we decided to incorporate both so the tank can breath even when full to the brim......this necessitated a custom made union...





....always knew my old school uniform belt would come in handy one day ......

Darren that looks absolutely fantastic. The attention to detail is superb. I can't wait to see it in the flesh. Out of interest what are the 2 metal pipes that run across behind the petrol tank?

....interior also nearly complete......perfectly created Repa harnesses supplied by stretch finally seeing the light of day.....



....although for Dave these have one fixing point too many! .....



.....stretch also supplied me with this very cool 1972 dated Gloria Monza extinguisher....



.....Manuel Campuzano supplied all my decals including the lightweight bonnet crest and the specially made custom gear knob (steering wheel is a temporary fit!)....





....final couple of days for Gary and then on to have engine and box fitted.

You must have felt my need!......I just sent you a PM asking for a favour

The pipes are cross-overs for the twin front oil coolers.

Would it be better for the spare wheel strap to pass over the top of the fuel sender plug?
Looks like the belt could prise the socket out under vibration?
