Plus I do like the simplicity of Prototipo S you highlighted although for me you can't beat a vintage Momo which are all individual and unique....
....as for colour? You'd have to be pretty lame not to have you're own opinion on that!

My choice? A new wheel and wear in your own patina, let it tell your stories, not 'borrow' them from somebody else. But then I'm rarely one to go with the accepted wisdom.

Re: Mongrel Street Racer
You could say the engine build on this project has 'evolved' over time.......initially (and still!) my knowledge was limited and I was following the advice of Nick Fulljames who suggested we build a 2.5 short stroke from the 2.2S I'd inherited; although he had a more 'street' modded unit in mind using most of the components we had to hand.....
....I then asked Nick how my engine would differ from a full 2.5ST spec motor.......'oh, just the induction system really' came the reply......and that led to a slippery, slippery slope!
For some reason I'd never considered that a racing fuel pump would be part of the equation, too expensive and out of my league was the thinking and so never asked question, plus I was assured the S pump I had would perform the job suitably.
As things progressed and the opportuniy arose to build another 2.2S engine from all the parts I hadn't used, the stumbling block was needing another injection pump........so I made the call!
In the United States the 'go to' guy for all your fuel Bosch and Kugelfischer injection pump needs is Gus Pfister at Pacific Fuel Injection in San Francisco.....Gus has been building injection pumps for decades, he builds them exactly as they did in the day using the same equipment, his reputation is second to none and on top of that I'd had firm recommendations from winning racers in the UK who use no one else....
....so when I made the call I was expecting a price beyond reach and a wait approaching my retirement!.........I couldn't have been more wrong!
Maybe I was lucky, maybe my timing was perfect, maybe I caught Gus on a good day but when I asked if he could help me with a racing pump for a 2.5 motor the answer was he had a core unit which he could build in eight weeks and the price was about a fifth of my expections....two minutes later and the deal was done. A no-brainer!
The next bit of good fortune was when I learnt that I had family flying in to San Francisco visiting my sister-in-law in Northern California........."Gus, this is the situation can you help me any sooner"......."sure, no problem"......
....and a mere five weeks after our first conversation, my 2.5 ST Racing Fuel Injection Pump was collected this week from Gus Pfister by family who sent through this photo today
......

....all my Christmas's and Birthday's rolled in to one?.......you bet!
BTW....a piece of trivia.....Richard my brother-in-law, the guy on the left next to Gus in the photo was a stunt double for Tom Selleck on Magnum PI a couple of decades ago!*
Cheers,
* that bit's not true!
