An extract from Porsches' Information Regarding PORSCHE Vehicles Used for Sports Purposes.....

'We recommend for competition purposes that adjustable shock absorbers, for example Koni (fitted as standard on the 911 S) should be used. They have the advantage they can be adjusted for any course involved.'

The publication goes on to further recommend the settings for various types of circuit 8)

I've followed this recommendation and opted for adjustable Sport Koni's, whilst they might not be old originals they're certainly in keeping with the ethos of the Sports Purposes manual....

....the other thing that's not original is the colour!....

Image

The inserts and rear dampers will now be painted along with my Koni front struts.

Colour recommendations appear to be Ford Cardinal Red (there are various colour codes, can anyone confirm 'which is correct?').....we don't have a colour chit for this however we do have one for the other recommendation I've seen being RAL 2002....

....this also has the advantage of being listed as 'Blutorange!' 8) .....

Image

So RAL 2002 it will be unless anyone can tell me this is wrong?

Big thanks to Stretch for recommending DC Performance as the supplier... http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/uprated/ ... e/911.html ...not only do they offer the best prices I've seen, they called that evening to inform me the rears were on back order but then delivered in half the time they originally quoted. Fantastic service :)

Cheers,

Progress of late has been the sourcing of final build parts, making a lightweight carpet set and the painting of suspension components....

....all necessary tasks but not terribly exciting! :? ....

...today was better though with a visit to Redtek to watch top end engine assembly :) ....

Image

...in some respects a shame to hide the wonderful inner machine work and lightweight con rods...

Image

....always good to see the man doing his stuff....Redtek built 'means' Nick Fulljames built! 8) .....

Image

....still managing to score the odd rare part....

Image

...and couldn't resist grabing a glimpse of what the future holds :) ....

Image

Image

....starting to look like like a complete engine now with the rest of the build being pretty straightforward.

It's going to be a hot, hot summer! :sunny:

That looks really good. Nick's looking suitably 'focused' on that task......

Can't wait to hear that little beauty fire up - what headers / exhaust are you going to use?

Another birthday present......custom made rally bracket courtesy of Mr Haas :notworthy: .....

Image

....I must stress that this is merely an initial prototype to test size/position etc,......they'll be some really nice design touches on the black anodised final version 8) .....

.....guess I should have waited to show until then but couldn't help myself, this stuff is too much fun!

Sorry Andy!

No sweat, the lip over the clocks needs reducing a bit; the bottom mount flange needs to be repositioned I think, let me have some photos with the prototype when you send it back ( assuming you are happy with the overall fits) Promise the real one will be much better finished and detailed....
