1973 Targa Electric windows?

Post by 10DJM »

Hi Guys
Currently restoring a 1973 RHD 911E Targa.
Don't think the doors are original... certainly the door cards etc. aren't.
It is fitted with electric windows and I don't think pre '73 Targas had this as an option, only the Coupes.
Am I right?
Cheers
Duncan

Do you have / could you get the CoA?

The fairly recent one from my 70S included a mention for electric windows.
But, as you probably know, the CoAs are a bit hit and miss, so you might not consider the info 100% trustworthy...

Hi Duncan

I think it may depend on the market / model / year for whether electric windows were standard or not. Even if you get the CoA it would not list option 651 (electric windows) if standard fitment. I know my car has electric windows and I am fairly confident they are original but they are not an option listed on the CoA. I have seen the underlying data the CoA was created from and it is not there either so I am assuming this was standard fit on UK 1972 coupes but could not say for 73 targas.

Regards
Graeme

I've got the CoA and no mention of the electric windows.

My dubiety was sparked by noticing in a "Model '73 Drivers Manual " that I'ved aquired, mentions Electrical Dooor Window Lifter ( optional-Coupe models )
However this Manual might not relate to the UK market.
