Introduction

Post by iledger »

Cutting straight to the interesting stuff... I have renovated a few cars including a Karmann Ghia and a current project is a 356 B Super Coupe. I've joined to seek advise on the 356 project from like minded enthusiasts.

I live in East Sussex, UK and this is my first ever forum!

Welcome Ian. I have not done a restoration myself but am constantly amazed at the encouragement and information that the forum members can provide to each other. Keep feeding them with progress and photos and all your questions willie answered!

Thanks for the welcome. I will gladly share pics of past and present projects. The current 356 project has several quandaries to open up to others for commmets, such as engine choice / enhancement options / purist vs outlaw / colour choice etc. Lots to debate!

Is there any guidance other than FAQ's, such how to post a photo? Sorry, all new to me.

Welcome. Paul from Brighton can't be far from you and restored his 356 so it full of good knowledge. I'm sure he will be along soon to introduce himself.

Hello Ian,

Interesting project. Give us a shout if you need anything. There's a little gaggle of us 356/VW folk in Brighton. I'm also a fan of step nose Alfas!

Cheers

Thanks for all the welcome messages. I'm in Mayfield so about 45 mins from Brighton so not too far. I've posted some pics in the 356 section and will try to keep them coming as it progresses. I'll pop one here too for interest!....

Paul - Definitely up for popping down and gleaning some of that 356 knowledge and showing off my karmann coupe. Lots of decisions to make but I think I'm going with 'outlaw within reason' if that makes sense?! Classic 'race' looks inside and out but getting the most of the numbers matching engine.

PS The step-nose is at rolling road this week having 45 webers fitted after which it gets a re-spray - possibly ready for Goodwood members meeting but might be pushing it!

When they start again, we tend to meet up at the VW Heritage 'Heritics' night at their Hove shop, 3rd Thursday of the month. I think March is the first one. Your Ghia would be most welcome and there's always a few old Porsche too.

Would love to see the stepnose too.

Cheers
