Thanks guys :)

Amazing what you find on DDK….

….what looks to be a production sheet from Porsche which has the Mongrel's details on it!….

How cool is that! :)

Last of the 2-pack priming to inner panels….

Image

Image

…bonnet is incredibly light…..thought about adding some balsa wood strips but wrong weave so resisted…

Image

….a few last minute holes to drill and items to be welded before final paint…..tank strap bracket, battery cut-off and oil cooler cross-over pipes….

Image

….I've seen a number of variations of the engine bay coil plate, some coils being bolted directly to chassis rail…..I left it to Rich to do his own thang! :rr: …..

Image

…will look the part when painted…..amazed at how little the paint was affected by the welding….quality stuff! 8)

Going black this week and in orange next!…..

…...talk about Christmas presents early!

Well, a tad premature!…

…I was forgetting about seam sealing!….

Image

…..after paint, only the second most important form of rust protection!

Although you wouldn't notice, we do a fair bit more than original and incredibly this takes about 10-12 hours to complete, some areas applied pretty rough as per factory finish….

Image

…..and some areas smooth and barely noticeable…

Image

…now the base paint has been keyed I'm committed to going black underneath although really do like the look of bare seam sealer on primer….a little black overspray and mmmm! 8)

Image

Image

…of course this work is highly technical and requires specialist equipment to complete….like a bit of hose on the end of the sealer tube for those hard to reach areas!….

Image

….and once applied…..

Image

….a special lengthening stick taped to a brush for added reach!…

Image

Seam sealing is critical on any shell that's been taken bare and even more so in this case where there'll be no underseal to cover things up….

….going black real soon! :bounce:
