Certificate of Authenticity
Can anyone help.
I have just received the CoA from Porsche for what I think should be a 1971 911t coupe, however the CoA says this should be a targa. Not good news as my car currently has a roof.
Before purchasing the car I checked in the Peter Morgan book that the numbers were about right which they were.
The chassis number is 9111101402 and the D program cars 911t's should be in the range 9111100001 to 9111110583
All the targa's from that year were in the range 9111110001 to 9111113476 so it looks like all targas should have five ones after the front 9.
The engine number on my car is 6112322/911/03 which matches the certificate.
Can anyone help clear this up.
Many thanks.
Nick

That chassis number is a coupe, evidenced by the 6th number being 0.

Re: Certificate of Authenticity
Thank you for both your replies. I have bought the car blind so a massive panic. I did check all the numbers before parting with my cash but when that arrived my stomach lurched.
It would have been a shame as everything else matches perfectly.

Re: Certificate of Authenticity
CoA's aren't worth the paper they're printed on ...
As majordad says, 911 110 1402 equates to a '71 911T Coupe

Re: Certificate of Authenticity
It's the first I've heard of a CoA being so wrong (However, the others have much more experience then me)? Surely a letter to Porsche GB would be in order? After all you have just paid for information that has rubbish information on it.Lightweight_911 wrote:CoA's aren't worth the paper they're printed on ...

Yes, there have been a number of inaccuracies on the C of A...
Porsche Cars will provide you with a corrected C of A... but... you need to be patient!

Re: Certificate of Authenticity
If it was a targa, why would it have been supplied with an original roof rack as per the options? Can the targa have a roof rack?? I would have thought not.
On that note does anyone have a genuine one they would like to sell?

Re: Certificate of Authenticity
I've had 4 COAs. In the end I told Porsche cars gb I was doing a complete restoration and that the car was unrecognisable and I really needed help. They said they then contacted Germany. Standard improved but final version has spelling mistakes.

Re: Certificate of Authenticity
This is the type of thing that Katy Malone gets to work with:
It requires a bit of translation like colour code to colour name or transmission number to transmission type.
It took her or whoever was actually doing it, three attempts to get mine right. This is despite me pointing out what was wrong and why it was wrong. For example, they had a transmission type listed that does not even exist.
In my case it looked like they were in too much of a rush so making mistakes but it is always possible the factory list was wrong for others.

It took a couple of attempts to get my CoA correct……can anyone help with a full translation?
