Went for a hard ride (for me!) today, 18 miles, of which I'm sure 17.9 were climbing...

Views of Snowdonia were amazing, descents difficult and technical.

Bumped into Gee Atherton (world and british DH champion) and a couple of the of GT factory riders out for a little warm up. I didn't realise who he was until he got my attention by doing a manual at high speed past where I was waiting, entered a vicious rock garden and disappeared into the forest around a rock strewn corner still neatly on the back wheel... I then followed on both wheels at about 2mph..

I went for a ride today

Around the lake at Center Parcs on a hired bike. Started raining though so I came back to my lodge for a large brandy and a sleep

A wheelie without pedaling, just lean back, front wheel 3ft in the air and off you go (downhill)

Slightly outside my skill set!

That looks lovely Gary71. Wish I was there.

Kudos to you for your efforts Thomas, I had you down as more of a Butlins man.

I know. We go there. It's utterly shocking.

Hang on.

40 minutes up the A11?

Do you live in Newmarket now?

If he can get from Newmarket to Thetford in 40 minutes it must mean the Elvedon bypass is finally open

Always thought it ironic that one of the investigations concerning phone hacking etc was called Elvedon: the worst bottleneck in East Anglia

Looks amazing and Gee is very good! I took my CX bike to Wales, edge of the nation park, but wasn't motivated to take it out for a spin. The hills where just too steep for it to be fun. I did a few of runs. Some of the most stunning views I've ever seen.

Just finished doing my souvenir vid, after me and Robbie were 'allowed' to take our bikes on a family holiday to a sailing resort in Greece. Greece comes highly recommended but watch out for the wild dogs..

Greek cycling vid.

Whilst I have grimpeur tendencies, my mate Robbie is very much a diesel Grand Tourer - he does stuff like the Strathpuffer, did it solo last year (alongside some lad called Guy Martin), won in the pairs the year before. He's doing solo again this year, eyes set on the win :salute:
