Re: '89 3.2 Carrera restoration
Bit more progress over the weekend, managed to get most of the front end together.

Option sticker reinstated

During reassembly a can of protective wax is never far away for all those areas that will be hard to access when the car is complete.

Next big job is the engine build, got a bit of work to do there!

Nice work Jon, the E hasn't moved forward yet. The garage has been too busy finishing the 993 Turbo then work should start set the car onto the jig. All the metal is sourced so all good to go.

With the shell assembled as far as possible whilst still on the trolley

It was time to rebuild the engine.
Before.

Lots of cleaned / reconditions parts

And reassembly begins.

New shells and rod bolts

New head studs (although in this case none of the originals had snapped)

Cam timing

Basic Engine back together

Continuing with the engine assembly, induction system and ancillaries are fitted.

Complete with new stickers!

And a complete new exhaust system

Hoping to reunite it with the shell this week

Too true!
Do you replace things to get the plated finish the same as the newly plated finished parts?
You must have changed some induction parts that worked but would look old in comparison, but you do build-in reliability.
What a nice car this will be when done.

Most parts are the originals re-plated or in the case of the aluminium parts they have been vapour blasted. Plastic parts are cleaned by hand.

Thanks chaps, seems a shame to put it back in the car, wonder if I'd get away with mounting it on the living room wall

Almost there, engine in and running, all the suspension connected up, just some interior and electrical items to finish.

Cheers
Jon
