Re: 356 Race Car
Amazing what conclusions are drawn on here!
The engine is about 155/157 bhp in reality as PB's readings are always high.
We use him for all our cars and he is the best.Sanjay's engine is slightly higher.
As long as you work from same basic data the actual readings mean now't.
The thing to now find out is how to stop the bloody things with those drum brakes.
None of the engines are that good as it makes sense to build a proper race engine and it would be 180 plus.
We will be doing it this winter but only if we can sort braking.

Re: 356 Race Car
The one thing about the engines is they must be built to the regulations and that's the problem as the US stuff is outside the FIA regs.
The East Coast boys race with 180/190 now (but very slowly!)

Re: 356 Race Car
Yes none of the US cars I've seen are FIA compliant but then they don't have to race in series where this is a requirement.
While every dyno and rolling road gives a different reading the key thing is to compare it using the same machine after we make changes. As well just finding 28hp for £250 has to be the cheapest performance I've made all year. Next on the list is me!
Bruce the motor I was referring to is street legal, pump fuel, with fan, and driven to and from the drag strip. Idles like a normal VW but lifts the wheels all the way through second gear. Andy and Ian can give more insight.
Robert I'm looking at Castle Combe and Spa (supporting race not six hour). How is the Pre-A race car progressing?
Cheers
Steve

The pre-A still needs an engine - one like yours ideally! I'll see you at Spa and maybe even Castle Combe. Best wishes, Robert

Hi Steve, steve wright wrote: As well just finding 28hp for £250 has to be the cheapest performance I've made all year. Next on the list is me!
Next on the list should be getting the car over to Pace for a check over and recommendations with regards to set up coupled with a track session with GG that's where all the time is to be found.
As for you I'll get Adam to post a video - nothing wrong with your car control !!
See you (and Robert - whats this Pre A ?) at the races, Go team DDK !

Re: 356 Race Car
Hey Sanjay. Yes that's the plan. Just having the side of the car 'polished' to take the Hanger Straight wall marks off! Off to Hedingham which will be a nice change from a race paddock

Re: 356 Race Car
....and I thought answer was to have a new clean race suit!
It's GB for the test day.
Robert is sorting engine but he needs something special to keep up with you two.
May go to Headingham with 4 cam although still haven't got my head round the way it's organised. We took my 904 their a few years ago and got some smart arsed comments from the organiser.

JR/Steve
Hope to see you both at the Castle,
GG sounds better and more appropriate than GB (sometimes !)
JR it wasn't just new and clean it was the 'shine' that really did it !! That's city boys for you...
Best
Sanjay

Re: 356 Race Car
I'd have a bit of a re-think about the colour scheme if you want to race it in Pre63Gt!!

Re: 356 Race Car
Decided that our 357 programme will revolve around Oldtimer at Nurburgring.
It's two races and pits is against the best in Germany.
Did it last year and was very interesting.
Think Sanjay and Adam are joining us.
We need them as so much better dressed than us lot

Re: 356 Race Car
I like the car Sanjay but am not sure on the potential colour scheme, it looks a bit busy for a 356, but its your car,
